Description

Senior Citizens Centre.

All welcome.

The meeting will be followed by a presentation by Les Lyons
The Dinosaur story and DIgging Up a Future in Outback Queensland

The history of fossil and dinosaur discoveries is full of fascinating characters, extraordinarily bitter scientific rivalries, competing theories, intrigues and deceptions, all of which have contributed to the rise of science.

Outback Queensland is of great interest to palaeontologists across the world, with dinosaur finds bringing new life to many communities. Les will introduce some of the sites, some of the people, some of their extraordinary finds and the contributions being made by enthusiastic amateurs. He will cover what is involved in becoming a volunteer for either a dig or shed conservation activities. On display will be samples of some finds (small – not dinosaurs!), and rare facsimile documents of historical importance.
