June’s bird walk started in the Ironbark Basin on a pleasant, still, and quite sunny morning.
Many of the Ironbarks were in flower, so there was much frenzied bird activity in the tree-tops. Unfortunately, we saw only two species of honeyeaters, New Holland and Red Wattlebird, feasting on the blossom, and the dam was just a puddle, so there were few other species to be seen.
We moved on to visit a bit of the cliff top track, and then set up the telescope at Point Addis. We enjoyed the sun and views, but unfortunately saw few birds.
After a pleasant morning tea, two of us continued on, to walk along the Dusty Miller Track beside Forest Road. We had great views over the valley, but again birds were limited, and, when we encountered quite steady rain, we called it a day.
